Paramount+ and Comedy Central had a new Horror Comedy movie that needed an opening title sequence. The story is about a M.A.S.H. book that's cursed by a demon portrayed by Kathy Griffin. Director Laura Murphy told me, "I want it to look like the movie Se7en, but Lisa Frank."
Say no more.
Shamelessly lifting from the movie title GOAT, Kyle Cooper, I analyzed the opening to Se7en frame-by-frame to see how animation and light operated. The end result was so well received, the marketing company tasked with promoting the movie used this logo on subway posters, press kits, billboards, and promos.
A few creative directions were pitched that were inspired by Stanger Things and classic slasher movies. Ultimately, the Se7en approach was the clear winner.
