The-Brief

Indigenous comedian Joey Clift was the recipient of a generous grant to produce a series of comedic PSAs, iterating on a viral video he had made a year earlier Telling People You're Native American When You're Not is a Lot Like Telling a Bear You're a Bear When You're Not a Bear.

Joey approached me to not only animate one of his scripts but to come on as as Animation Director and Producer of the full series.

The-Solution-line-1

Working with an incredible team of native and indigenous animators, I ran a small pop-up animation studio with Joey as we produced the scripts. These hilarious PSAs were bought by Comedy Central and Joey continues to screen them around the country. The icing on the cake was getting a social media bump from Mark Ruffalo. Below is the piece I storyboarded and animated.

Gone Native

Written and directed by Native comedian Joey Clift for his Gone Native series, I animated and art-directed this comedic PSA about all the lazy and offensive terms non-Native people use in their day-to-day lives. This short features dozens of custom assets all modeled and animated by myself in Blender.
