The-Brief

In January of 2017, noted hate-filled monster Richard Spencer was punched in the face on camera. For the next month, the internet and culture at large debated whether or not it was okay to "punch a nazi." As Senior Art Director and staff creative at Super Deluxe, we had found a niche of reacting at lightning speed to sticky news stories like this, with bizarre, thought-provoking, and comedic stunts.

How could we add to this conversation in a way that felt on-brand but still on the right side of history?

The-Solution-line-1

The art and tech team came together to design, build, and ship a clever riff on NES's Mike Tyson's Punch-Out. But this time, you could punch your a nazi, free of any consequence. Cleverly exploiting the accelerometer in mobile phones, players would sync to the web game and throw hands at the biggest names in fascism!

Special thanks to video game YouTuber Jeffrey Grub for reviewing and recording this playthrough of Punch-A-Nazi.
